BREAKING: CMAC Confirms Thai Airstrike Damaged Pagoda in Oddar Meanchey

ODDAR MEANCHEY, August 2, 2025 — The Cambodian Mine Action Centre (CMAC) has confirmed that Tamon Senchey Pagoda in Taham Village, Kokmorn Commune, Banteay Ampil District, was hit by aerial bombs allegedly dropped by the Thai Air Force.

According to a public statement posted on August 2, 2025, by CMAC Director-General Heng Ratana, a team of CMAC explosive ordnance disposal (EOD) experts responded to an emergency call to assess the site and ensure public safety.

The team identified debris from two MK-82 bombs, each equipped with GBU-12 Paveway II laser-guidance kits. The serial numbers recovered from the fragments are 22002788 and 22002794, with both bombs reportedly manufactured in January 2023.

“This confirms that the munitions are not remnants from the 1970–73 war period,” Heng Ratana stated.

While the source of the bombs is still under investigation, Heng alleged that the strike was carried out by Thai F-16 fighter jets. Cambodian authorities have yet to release an official government statement in response to the incident.

CMAC noted that the findings were based on physical evidence collected on-site and emphasized the importance of accurate information amid ongoing regional tensions.
